Short-term Plan of Action
During my first professional position I will identify a wellness activity that I will work to achieve throughout the year: Specifically I will go to the gym and eat healthier despite an on campus meal plan
Long-term Plan of Action
Define work life balance for others and myself. Transition into a live off professional position
Intended Outcomes
Hoping to have the ability to not only model work life balance but also find time for myself and begin a more robust personal life.
Values, Philosophy, and History (VPH)
Short-term Plan of Action
Become involved as an advisor for the Hillel on Curry’s campus and help this organization understand the history and importance of the Hillel association overall
Long-term Plan of Action
Publish a paper on the importance of female colleges and their relevance in the current landscape of higher education. Expanding on the work and interest done within my graduate career
Intended Outcomes
Through my own values and philosophies I’m hoping to model and assist in the success of students both female and Jewish whom are looking for a mentor or friend that will push them for success
Assessment, Evaluation, and Research (AER)
Short-term Plan of Action
Assess the effectiveness of the RA Selection process and craft a five year plan to further develop, innovate, and revamp the application and selection process
Long-term Plan of Action
Research and evaluate the need for extended orientations and program specific agendas for student with disabilities and create implementation guides for universities looking to begin this type of program
Intended Outcomes
Assessment and research helps provide evidence needed to make change. Through the assessment, research and evaluation I do I hope to enact positive changes that will create easier and more enjoyable processes within the department
Law, Policy, and Governance (LPG)
Short-term Plan of Action
Better understand the Law’s and Policy surrounding FERPA and Conduct in order to aid the new Director of Conduct in her transition to my current institution
Long-term Plan of Action
Attend ASCA-Association for Student Conduct Administration, in order to enhance judicial experience and present on residence life and conduct collaboration
Intended Outcomes
Better understanding the laws and practices surrounding conduct and FERPA will assist me in the conversation I have with parents, colleagues, students and third parties and will allow me to speak carefully and within the guidelines of the law
Organizational and Human Resources (OHR)
Short-term Plan of Action
Pick a benefits package, health care, dental, as well as understand fully and invest in a 403(b) retirement plan
Long-term Plan of Action
Work with the Human Resource department to spear head a job posting and search process for a new hire within current department
Intended Outcomes
I hope to learn more about the Human Resource departments protocols because it will assist me in my ability to streamline a search process faster and provide quicker transition times for professionals moving in and out of positions
Leadership (LEAD)
Short-term Plan of Action
Become a member at large for the Boston Area College Housing Association and assist with the planning and implementation of the annual RA conference as well the job placement fair.
Long-term Plan of Action
Create, plan and implement an entire RA fall training that includes team building and professional development engagement while also teaching the day to day skills and crisis management needed within the position
Intended Outcomes
From crafting and assisting in the creation and implementation of an RA training I hope to hone in my programming and training skills to eventually have the ability to move up within residence life and spear head this type of initiative at a new institution
Social Justice and Inclusion (SJI)
Short-term Plan of Action
Work with the Diversity and Inclusion coordinator to create a training for Resident Assistants that can help them become more attuned to the topics of social justice and inclusion
Long-term Plan of Action
Help create, facilitate, and manage safe zone training at the institution. Facilitating the training for all faculty and staff as well as prominent student leadership groups
Intended Outcomes
From helping create a safe zone training and facilitating trainings for multiple constituents I hope to gain a better understanding of what different needs and interests are prevalent in the different populations of students, staff, and faculty
Student Learning and Development (SLD)
Short-term Plan of Action
Read, watch, and/or discuss with colleagues at least one writing and theory topic each month as it relates to the student populations we are working with to better engage with students and keep ourselves as professionals up to date on current trends within the field
Long-term Plan of Action
Provide one professional development workshop or experience to student leaders within my supervision, each month. Whether that is reviewing resumes, bringing in a facilitator for training, or going to speaker as a group and overseeing a debrief
Intended Outcomes
From providing professional development opportunities for my student leaders and staff, I will help students with their professionals career goals in a larger scale and assist them in their goals to be successfully graduated and employed students after their time at an institution
Technology (TECH)
Short-term Plan of Action
Assist with streamlining all processes within RA Selection, and Community Development into an electronic format, moving away from any and all paper submissions
Long-term Plan of Action
Use social media and technological systems to promote, advertise, carry out and oversee all the facets of the RA position within the confines of the Residence Life & Housing department
Intended Outcomes
Through online media and marketing platforms I hope to raise awareness, understanding, and visibility for the programs and processes I am involved with. In turn creating positive experiences and higher student participation in areas of student development, growth, and leadership
Advising and Supporting (A/S)
Short-term Plan of Action
Co advise at least two clubs within my current institution and assist them in increasing their numbers and event participation by 25%
Long-term Plan of Action
Transition from residence life & housing and supervision to a more advising and supporting role in student activities and orientation within my professional career
Intended Outcomes
Through transitioning into a student activities and orientation professional role I hope to embed myself further into a professional that I love while deterring myself from burning out and leaving the field prematurely
