Articulate the vision and mission of the primary work unit, the division, and the institution.

 

When hiring the resident assistant staff at Curry College we welcome the staff to the position by having them attend a new hire meeting and meet their new staff. At this meeting we go over the expectation, values, mission and overall duties the Residence Life & Housing department. Every person in the department has an opportunity to speak on behalf of the values and is lead by the Director of residence life in order to show unity and departmental cohesion.

Identify basic fundamentals of teamwork and teambuilding in one’s work setting and communities of practice

 

During my time with University Housing at Florida State University and with Residence Life & Housing I have the opportunities to build a team over the course of a year. By having this time I impellent team builders to promote teamwork and unity amongst the staff by doing activities every staff meeting. Over the summer at SUNY Cortland I created a comprehensive guide of all the team builders I love and find easily transferable between staff that I can do with them. I have team built with many of these games and activities with much success

Ensure that decision making processes include the perspectives of various groups on campus, particularly those who are underrepresented or marginalized, or who may experience an unintended negative consequence of the proposed change.

 

During my time as one of the Homecoming Advisors at Florida State, one of my main responsibilities was to oversee the creation and publication of a Homecoming Packet that explains all the rules, regulations, and overview of the Homecoming activities; including the points distribution. This year we created a unity points category which encouraged organizations that are not normally represented in homecoming, mostly Greek organizations participate in Homecoming, to join with those higher populated teams and create unity and diversity amongst the group. As well I assisted the group in creating opportunities for groups to meet and join and join the large scale event that homecoming is and create the unity it strives to do

Within one’s department and areas of interest, lead others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization.

 

After some time at Curry College I was sought out by the Jewish Student organization named Hillel. The faculty advisor was looking for a fresh new look on Jewish identity and Jewish student engagement. As a young professional who has both undergraduate and graduate experience with Hillel I am excited to help rejuvenate the group and help the executive board discover their own mission and values in regards to the Curry College Hillel Identity. As well create and action plan and tangible steps to help them become a more active and populated group on campus.

Serve as a mentor or role model for others

 

I have many great opportunities to serve as a role model or mentor for others. Whether it was students whom are now going into student affairs, students whom look to me for guidance, validation, challenge, or someone just to talk to. Colleagues who come to me for feedback or supervisors whom come to me support. I have had the privilege to not only have great mentors and role models but be a mentor and role model and it is a title I take seriously and with passion.
