Technology

Model and promote adaptability among students, colleagues, and educational stakeholders in the face of fast-paced technological change and demonstrate openness to the introduction of new digital tools by others.

During my transition from Florida State University to Curry College I was introduced to a lot of new systems. Instead of SEBORD for housing placement and information we used Banner. Instead of Adirondack Conduct Coordinator, for conduct we used Maxient. Instead of qualtrics the office mostly uses Google Docs. I had to adapt quickly, especially as a middle of the year hire, to be able to jump in and fulfill the requirements that were needed of me.

Demonstrate awareness of one’s digital identity and engage students in learning activities related to responsible digital communications and virtual community engagement as related to their digital reputation and identity.

I have four major online social media identities as it relates to Student Affairs. On my twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, I often portray myself as a student affairs professional or #SAPro and use these platforms to promote my practice. Often times on my twitter I will be par5ticapting in a #SAChat or following my fellow colleagues, or Instagram I use it mostly to recount my day to day or week to week student affair activities I am engaged within in regards to student interaction, professional development, or motivational words of encouragement.

Initiate the development of holistic educational interventions designed for students participating in courses and other educational experiences delivered via hybrid and online formats.

At Curry College we understand students are more technologically savvy and have access to internet and social media at all times. Thus we have adapted our sanctioning to compensate for the growing need for students to learn and understand at their own pace. For minor alcohol violations students are required to take an online course, which can be accessed from any online media platform and can be completed at the pace of the user. This way we are creating educational experiences that focus on a need of the university in a way that gets a student connected.

Provide leadership for the seamless integration of social media and other digital communications with broader educational, customer service, marketing, and community engagement efforts that communicate and develop dialogue and community around shared common institutional values.

During this homecoming season, because of the high demand of the Pow Wow comedian which was going to be performing. Homecoming Committee put into place an online reservation system through qualtrics that allowed for students to reserve their ticket in advance and have the ease of mind knowing they could go and get their ticket for the show without having to skip class or stress. The online platform emailed a confirmation. This was in an effort to have high community impact on students being able to participate and enjoy a large scale community programming effort.
